The strategy is contradictory, and doesn’t do enough to help those living around areas of expansion to maintain a standard of living, health and well-being, with increased pressure on services, it also doesn’t articulate how the council will support existing home and businesses to decarbonise, and how green corridors will be maintained to support wildlife movement.

a great deal of research needs to be carried out on the types of houses to built. We will be having hotter Summers and colder, wetter winters. Houses must be able to cope. New builds should have less/smaller windows, be fitted with blinds/shutters to keep out heat in the Summer, and built to stand up to heavy rain and winds. Drainage for 'estates' should be able to manage a heavy rainfall, ensuring it does not overload connected older systems and cause flooding. They should have climate friendly services to all.

I live in Wilmcote village.
The Birmingham Road (A3400) is already overused by people commuting and visiting Stratford-upon-Avon - an area of historical interest. If the proposed 6,700 houses are built in this site all that traffic will come racing through our village increasing road traffic incidents, threatening child safety, wear and tear on our country lanes, throughout the entire build time.
The land will be destroyed - a habitat to deer, foxes, hedgehogs, small rodents and numerous varieties of butterflies.
This land is well-known for flooding. New build housing will simply move flood water to us.

I would agree to the principles but we have seen that growth in our town has not brought with it any changes in Infrastructure and is the complain of many residents. If in future there is to be infrastructure aligned to the growth in the area then I wholly support that

I do not agree with the Kinwarton field site proposal in Alcester for housing. This is a natural area for birds, deers, hedgehogs and rabbits. This is a popular dog walking site and does not need to be developed on.

Whilst I support the Net Zero, biodiversity and sustainable transport parts of this vision statement, I do have to wonder how they'll be treated in practice, as they've appeared in previous council documents and yet we still see sustainable transport options in new developments discarded or badly implemented, infrastructure build left to the last minute and/or dropped from plans, and nature being built on. Nice words but actions haven't exactly backed them up in the past.

Sustainable levels of growth are not available in Shipston. Large employers have left the town in recent years; Ellen Badger hospital has no beds for an increasingly elderly population; the high school has no sixth form; the Town has no active Fire station.
Inadequate infrastructure was provided for the new homes built over the last 5 years. More needs to be in place BEFORE any new building is commenced.
Existing sewage network cannot cope now; raw sewage in gardens. Town centre prone to flooding from river and localised surface water flooding on roads fields and proposed sites for building.

Strategic objectives 10 and 12 are of particular importance to me. 'Protecting what already exists' seems very relevant when development of green belt land is being considered, when alternative options are available which avoid development of important habitats / green corridors and agricultural land.

There will need to be better road and public transport than there currently is and also community facilities (GP surgeries, schools, green/recreation and community centres, etc). Surgeries are already overwhelmed and bus services totally inadequate. There is a train line where only occasional trains stop at every station. Building more houses without extending facilities will be disastrous.

Sustainable growth for the area - it's already overcrowded and the services are oversubscribed.
Net Carbon Zero targets are ridiculous as we need carbon to survive (basic biology). Many of the issues we have at the moment are down to bad management and a green agenda that really isn't 'green' but rather serving the likes of hedge funds cashing in on said agenda.
South Warwickshire is actually heading in a downward spiral at the moment and this so called plan will only accelerate the it's fall from grace.

1. Balanced and sustainable approach to growth is essential to ensure that new development meets the diverse needs of our local communities while maintaining the character of our area.
2. It is also important to ensure that the accommodation needs of gypsy, traveller, and travelling show-people communities are met in suitable locations, with access to essential services and facilities.
3. Any new development must be accompanied by appropriate investment in local infrastructure, including healthcare, education, and community services, to support both new and existing residents.

The broad overarching priniciples are okay, but for me it's about the depth&understanding how they are interpreted in practice. Each aim could be interpreted in different ways - what I see elsewhere in the document supports this. I feel that there needs to be a clear weave of the environment/green belt and the very unique aspects of Warwickshire, including heritage throughout all principles. e.g. housing that potentially encroach on green belt, adds to the increasing number of big housing developments already happening - which look like those you see anywhere else - &also strengthening green spaces. This to me conflicts!

There needs to be so much more emphasis on parking. Every new development I have seen being consulted on fails to fully acknowledge what happens when estates are built/buildings are converted which don't provide enough room for residents cars. It massively impacts residents, neighbours of those estates and properties, traffic flow and traffic safety. Once approved it is almost impossible to reverse the impact, we must be realistic about the numbers and their implications - recommending car share clubs simply isn't enough and avoids the reality.

Wilmcote and Bearley do not need a large housing development. The proposal is for 6,700 homes, primary schools, a high school. The lovely green spaces around these two settlements will be swallowed up by red bricks and pathways. Wilmcote has a very significant historical building within it, Mary Arden's House. A housing estate of this scale will detract from its charm and rural 'farm' appeal. 6,700 homes will generate nothing but over-crowding, pollution, carbon emissions and floods. Congestion is already a huge problem and our rural lanes cannot cope with more.

I understand all of the strategic objectives need to be made but I do not agree with the proposals put forward with regards to using greenbelt for development purely on the basis of the landowners being willing to sell their land. Brownfield sites and degraded greenbelt should be used before any greenbelt land is considered in any way shape or form.
There is also a huge issue with the infrastructure within Stratford upon Avon and surrounding area which needs addressing before anymore development takes place. Rather than numerous hotels in the town centre may be apartments should be considered.

SO1: Don't believe this development is proportionate in scale and transport links cannot improve inevitable bottle necks at J15 M40, Stratford Birmingham Road and Henley.
SO2: Support need for new homes for all needs
SO3: The site is already mainly a flood risk. The road infrastructures won't work and small local lanes will become shortcuts to avoid the ques, this is so blatantly obvious.
SO4: new jobs doing what, more supermarkets?
SO5: There are no buildings which can be reused?
SO6: 6700 new homes will not mitigate carbon emissions!!!
SO8: this development will not protect our rich village Shakespeare heritage.

The BFI plays a strong leadership role in areas relating to research, policy development and advocacy for UK film, and has developed one of the largest and most important collections of film and television material in the world – the BFI National Archive.
BFI’s storage facility at Lighthorne, established in 1978, forms an integral part of the BFI’s National Archive. It represents a nationally significant cultural asset in South Warwickshire which should be formally recognised as such in the Local Plan.

Can I, as someone who has lived in S. Warwickshire, Stratford-upon-Avon for 50 years, state the obvious.
In all of the development plans we have had in this area during the last 50 years, we have never, repeat never, had any infrastructure put in place to cope with developments until (at best) decades later. (Roads, Schools, Doctors, Youth and adult facilities, Sewage treatment, Local shopping……)
So you will understand why I can’t trust the current planners to get it right this time - but I am always willing to be amazed. Please amaze me.
