Representation Summary:

There is a serious problem of traffic routinely exceeding the 30mph on the Southam Road through the village.

Although there was decreased and slower traffic during full lockdown the dangerous nature of the main road has returned with many cars driving in excess of 50mph on a regular basis. Often the lead car in traffic through the village dictates the speed and the other cars follow suit. It is such a busy road with more local residents due to new housing. The flashing 30 signs have no effect whatsoever. I would support speed cameras as there are always pedestrians including children walking on the footpaths right next to these selfish drivers. An increase in cycling has created further danger for road users. If cars travelled at the prescribed speed limit of 30mph. There is a serious accident waiting to happen – proper traffic management would not only increase resident safety but also make the village quieter and kinder to the environment.
