With regard to the the figure of over 75% of tourists not staying overnight no indication is given as to how many of these are on 'organised' trips including 'days out' and 'coach tours'. people on coach tours stay in one central hotel and your a specified area and warwick may only be one destination within the midlands.

Pleased to see reference to canal corridors in 7.2 and welcomes protection of visitor accommodation.
Reference to support boating visitors should be made through extra moorings adjacent to the canal.
As the PAN emphasises, canals are a form of strategic infrasturctue and the value and contribution of these should be recognised by the LDF.
Canals are also important through recreation and access to adjacent countryside.
Facilities need to be improved around Leamington Old town as part of the canal festival. Should be through AAP.

Yes but I should like to see Leamington become a centre of interest for those concerned with renewable energy. We should try to become self sufficient in energy - mixing water power (the Leam); wind power (currently Leamington is identifiable at a distance by that ghastly block of flats, why not have a wind farm up there instead?); clean methane from chip shop and restaurant olil; council subsidies for solar panels - all of this to belong to us giving no cheaper fuel for houses and cleaner cars.

I do not believe that people only take day visits to the area due to lack of accommodation. I have never had any trouble in finding accommodation for friends and family that are visiting. If further research is done I believe people come to the area to predominately visit Warwick Castle and this does not take longer than a day. More research should be done in this area.

Tourism is the one industry which should be positively encouraged particulary because of Kenilworth and Warwick's proximity to Stratford on Avon.

Warwick has a number of hotels which include two
large hotels adjacent to the M40 motorway.
This is Warwick not Brighton or Blackpool.

Didn't Leamington Spa become affluent and grow due to tourism that had nothing to do with Warwick Castle? Dig a little deeper please and use some of the good suggestions from your residents. What about encouraging the District to grow following all sustainability principles - look at the modern forms of attraction for people as a method of tourism - don't just rely on Warwick Castle. Think of attractions for younger people and those with different tastes.

Kenilworth should have a town museum - it has more local character and history than just the castle. People need something else to look at while here.
