Village Housing Options and Settlement Boundaries

Representation ID: 61953

Received: 10/01/2014

Respondent: Mr Martin Lodge

Representation Summary:

-Access to Hampton Magna is by three routes; through the village, along Old Budbrooke Road and Ugly Bridge Road. Ugly Bridge Road and Oldbudbrooke Road cannot be used for construction traffic as the former is unsuitable for heavy vehicles and the latter has low headroom.
-It is unacceptable to have heavy construction traffic coming through Hampton-on-the-Hill. This is a village with a narrow road and chicanes.
-The village already has buses, illegal heavy lorries and farm vehicles using the road through the village. Any things associated with housing construction would be unacceptable and illegal within the present weight limit.

I have already submitted a response to the proposals for 150 additional houses at Hampton Magna - see Rep 46234. I wish to add a further comment but cannot find how to do this online, so I am sending this e-mail.

The following information has just come to my attention:

Access to Hampton Magna is by three routes; through our village, along Old Budbrooke Road (Warwick Parkway Station) and Ugly Bridge Road. The construction traffic will be unable to use Ugly Bridge which is unsuitable for heavy traffic, nor via Old Budbrooke Road where at Warwick Parkway Station the bridge has just 12 Ft. 6 inch headroom (too low for heavy vehicles; the UK norm is a minimum of 16 Ft. 6 inches) , which leaves only the route through Hampton-on-the-Hill for all the heavy construction vehicles.

Apart from all the other concerns already raised regarding the ongoing effect of such a development on the local infrastructure and amenities, it would be totally unacceptable to have heavy construction traffic coming through Hampton-on-the-Hill for years while these houses were being built. This is a village with a narrow road and chicanes. We already have buses, school buses, illegal heavy lorries (7.5 ton weight limit) and farm vehicles using the road through the village. Anything associated with housing construction would be totally unacceptable - and illegal within the present weight limit. I therefore wish to add this to my objections already submitted.
