Alternative Sites Consultation

Representation ID: 43912

Received: 06/04/2010

Respondent: Paul Meggitt

Representation Summary:

Concerns about traffic congestion and safety; Local Facilities; Environmental Issues including flooding.

I view the consideration of Glebe Farm as an alternative Core Strategy Site as a totally inappropriate development of Green Belt, Implanting a large development on long-established neighbouring settlements, as in this case Cubbington Village and Parklands, imposes pressures which would not exist in the originally-designated Core Strategy Sites, for example at Harbury Lane.

Concerns about traffic congestion and safety; Local Facilities; Environmental Issues.

Questionnaire Response:
As a long-time resident (37 years) of Cubbington Village I wish to object to the possible development of Glebe Farm on he following counts:-
1] Traffic Congestion and Safety
Considerable engineering works would be required to make necessary improvements at :-
a) Windmill Hill/Rugby Road mini-island junction
b) Offchurch Road - widening and re-aligning
c) Entry into Offchurch village from Cubbington towards The Stag
d) Junctions in Offchurch through Radford Semele to Leamington
e) Flooding of the Avon at Offchurch bridge( and Hunningham)

2] Local Facilities
a) Expensive expansion of Cubbington C of E / St Teresas/ Telford Schools, which would
destroy their value as small 'village' schools
b) Losing the amenity value of the local footpaths - who wants to walk through a housing estate when there are fields at present
c) Necessity for additional Doctor's facilities

3] Environmental Issues
Extensive drainage and pumping installations would be necessary to cope with the run-off from the estate, exacerbating the existing flooding problems in the village

Conclusion
I view the consideration of Glebe Farm as an alternative Core Strategy Site as a totally inappropriate development of Green Belt, Implanting a large development on long-established neighbouring settlements, as in this case Cubbington Village and Parklands, imposes pressures which would not exist in the originally-designated Core Strategy Sites, for example at Harbury Lane.
