No such thing as sustainable growth or development.
No evidence from existing developments that the planning infrastructure is able to promote or even influence good design.
There is no mention of preserving or enhancing our town centres which have been decimated by misguided policies and parking restrictions.
Despite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary the plans still parrot the woke nonsense about active travel routes with more money to be wasted on unused walking and cycling networks. People need to be able to carry goods, move children and elderly people about and wont use bikes or walk in inclement weather.

The Barford, Sherbourne & Wasperton Joint Parish Council met and discussed 12 Strategic Objectives, and looked at these objectives across the plan. The following objectives were agreed with no comments, just our support: 2,6,8 and 10. However we felt that we needed to make comment on all the remaining Strategic Objectives.

I agree with objectives 1 to 12. These have also to be applied where housing has already been built, but the infrastructure has not yet been provided.

The desire to protect our environmental assets is objective No.12.
This means that once you have achieved all the other objectives you will then realise you have destroyed so much countryside we will have lost our environmental assets. The vast areas assigned for housing is very destructive, and will significantly reduce the quality of life in Warwickshire.

There should have been a letter drop to advise residents about the SWLP and how to respond.
When responding the system should flag those you have already responded to.

Strategic Objectives #3 and #10 (re Improving the health, safety and quality of life of our communities (and) lower levels of pollution) should mean the Barford Quarry proposal should not be approved. If approved, the quarry would in due course also dramatically increase the risk of flooding - contravening the intent to reduce and manage risk of flooding from all sources

The evidence of current houses built in the approach to Leamington actually detract from the tourism experience. Their designs and layout do nothing to enhance the quality of the community. The developers have proven that this over development actually does nothing to enhance the quality of life. As a resident of Leamington for 63 years, Leamington , Warwick and surrounding areas are the worst they have ever been for quality of life. These proposals will actually make qaulity of life worse for the environment. There is no evidence to support that this is a sustainable solution.

Yes I support these, but question whether an additional 50,000 homes, together with the required infrastructure, will be able to be provided in a sustainable manner. It will also have a detrimental effect on our countryside and valuable Arden landscape. Are you prioritising the conservation of the Arden landscape? This plan should do so.

Too vague on infrastructure support, stating agreement could be acquiesce to anything.
Warwick, a small town centre with listed buildings, narrow roads, a small hospital (waiting times and parking already an issue) secondary school places already insufficient, major trunk roads are hotspots for closures due to accidents and works, leading to standstills in the town of Warwick, knocking on to Hampton on the Hill & Hampton Magna gridlock. Current ongoing housing expansion evident in various directions around Warwick and Leamington. So feasibility of providing infrastructure essentials as a prerequisite to house building, should be a key objective at the outset.

APG would request that in Strategic Objective 3 provision for cemeteries is included.
The word “Schools” should include infrastructure for all age groups including higher and further education.

Extensive housing is already taking place and the infrastructure we have in Kenilworth/Leek Wootton can barely cope at the moment. Houses being built are not selling so we don't require further building. It is possible to meet housing needs without building on green belt land. The green belt land is important for people's mental health. We need to keep the identity of villages and towns not merge them together and lose village character

Proposals will have significant impact on infrastructure of existing rural areas particularly in terms of impact on schools; GP surgeries and the already poor transport and limited access to exiting utilities; footpaths and public transport etc.
How these will be addressed needs to be made clear in future iterations of the Plan

The strategic objectives and overarching principles sound good but it will be very expensive and difficult to achieve them. It is difficult to understand how these principles will apply to the existing communities of Wilmcote and Bearley if 6700 houses are thrust between them.

If properties were to be built, many of the objectives are acceptable but their impact upon wildlife and open spaces will be extensive. It is difficult to accept that that will not adversely affect the mental and emotional well-being of people living in that area and in the neighbouring areas.

Whilst we are not directly opposed to the proposed strategic growth locations or new settlements put forward, it is considered that a mixture of options is to be required to meet the needs of South Warwickshire’s communities. Whichever Spatial Growth Strategy Option is taken forward, the needs of rural communities must be met via dedicated allocations to villages in the SWLP. This will enable positive planning in response to the requirements of Paragraph 83 of the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF, December 2024) (NPPF83). Small sites will have much faster completion rates than the proposed SGLs and New Settlement allocations.

The Vision should recognise that there are unmet development needs outside of South Warwickshire that may need to be met within South Warwickshire. A Strategic Objective should also be to meet any unmet housing needs from communities elsewhere that cannot meet their needs, where it is practical and consistent with achieving sustainable development. This would align the strategic objective with the ‘positively prepared’ test of soundness.

Many of these objectives and the principles from which they are derived are highly contradictory. You claim to wish to enhance environmental and heritage assets, while pursuing development of tens of thousands of homes on many sites that are largely undeveloped, rural, agricultural land in beautiful, open countryside. Augmenting existing medium to large settlements is more aligned with your principles.

The five overarching principle are more helpful than the strategic objectives. The strategic objectives are too broad and are likely to conflict with one another in practice.

The overarching principles and strategic objectives are laudable in theory but it is clear that they are unlikely to be achieved in practice with challenging, costly and in some cases insurmountable obstacles. Taking the second and third overarching principles "a well designed and beautiful South Warwickshire" and " a healthy, safe and inclusive South Warwickshire" you talk about respecting the existing beauty and heritage of the area and enabling everyone to enjoy a good quality of life. However, it is obvious that in the case of BW this would not apply to the adjacent communities of Wilmcote and Bearley.

Destruction of good agricultural land which currently provides food
Thousands more vehicles flooding our roads and causing severe congestion
Loss of protected woodland and trees
