Representation Summary:

We are supportive of all these elements. We are particularly concerned to link the village to the Offchurch Greenway which would require the re-opening of the viaduct/bridge. There is no logical reason for its remaining closed and its closure blocks both cycle and walking access to the village from this entrance. Currently access to the vital walks and cycle pathways from this part of the village require walking on Offchurch Lane which, due to its constriction and visibility splays as it leaves the village boundary is dangerous.

We fully support this as we have children and do not feel it is safe for them to go to friends houses in the village at the moment due to the lack of pedestrian crossing.

Accessibility around the village is enhanced by the network of paths. They provide opportunity for exercise and the attendant increased wellbeing and health. We support the maintenance of the existing paths and welcome the extensions of the network described.
The provision of safe paths down Offchurch Lane (RS8/3), to the Canalside Community Food site (RS8/5)and the provision of a footbridge over the stream (RS8/7) are in our view, essential for the safety of all who use them. We are pleased to see that the work to provide safe access to the canal is under way on the main road (RS8/1).

All the village footpaths are of value as they offer safe way to access various facilities within the village and beyond, as well as providing a link to the countryside and an opportunity to exercise. We support ALL the improvements listed as they will enhance those paths we do have. We are particularly keen to see improvements that will provide safer routes for walkers, for example, along Offchurch lane, linking existing paths and enabling children to walk to school safely. More paths should allow wheelchair users easy access to encourage independence.

I am a village resident and agree that footpath provision is very important for the sustainable future of the village. Particularly new provision and extension of the footpath along Offchurch lane to the canal towpath for pedestrian safety.

Representation Summary:

One of the village's assets is its footpath network. However, the links to the canal and the wider adjoining network of paths are deficient. A pedestrian link is being developed near the canal bridge on the A425. The benefit of this link will be much reduced without a pedestrian link along or near to Offchurch Lane to complete the circuit. The current pedestrian route on the Offchurch Lane carriageway is dangerous and particularly unsuitable for young families and people with disabilities.

The creation of more public footpaths and safe access and egress points to all parts of the village is a vital key growth area for shopping, health, fitness and public transport. We are surrounded by beautiful countryside and waterways, the majority of which cannot ne accessed safely or easily. Our local canal is a busy thoroughfare for boats traversing the Grand Union Canal yet villagers cannot get to it safely and boaters cannot get into the village safely to access our local facilities thereby helping to support the local economy and develop tourism in the area.

Agree, footpaths help people connect with nature, provide a place to exercise, a place to walk outdoors away from the hustle and bustle, a place of peace. However if footpaths must be fenced please ensure that wildlife can move freely, do not cut off their foraging areas.

Representation Summary:

A pedestrian crossing near Lewis Road is essential as the road is busy and there is no safe means to cross to Semele Park or the bus stop.

Footpath safety on School Lane must also be considered as a priority as limited parking for the school often leads to driving /parking on footpaths which is dangerous to the children and parents as they try to access the school.

Representation Summary:

Radford Semele has few footpaths. With growing population these need to be protected and enhanced. Any development to East would threaten viability of countryside footpaths.
Need to forge links to canal footpath east and west of village. West link underway but WCC need to build footpath at bottom of Offchurch lane for west link.
Need safe accessways and road crossings from new housing to eas of village. Have been some close shaves with traffic.

Full text:

The village has few footpaths compared to other areas in the district. New housing has taken over some of the countryside footpaths and any housing extensions to the east will remov the last few in the village. The village is badly connected with the canal which would provide a much needed link to national paths via the canal. Links to canal to the West are underway but a link to the canal at the end of Offchurch Lane would need a new path alongside the existing road. A new large housing estate makes this link even more important to the community. This needs to be done by Warwickshire County Council.
The building of a new estate to the east of the village has resulted in residents having to cross the busy Southam Road to reach community facilities. There have been several near misses and a crossing point is badly needed.
I fully support this policy to enhance te network of footpaths in the local area and provide safe means of access.
