Respondent: Mr Jonathan Westley Stoot

Representation Summary:

We are fiercely supportive of the requirement to protect all vistas overlooking the church including RS6/2 and RS6/3. The Church vista should be protected 360 degrees from all points on the Southam Road, Offchurch Lane and to remaining quadrilles both developed and non-developed. Any reduction of vistas would result in serious damage to both the heritage assets of the village and its perceived identity (and resulting cultural, psychological and socio-economic impacts).
We are in broad agreement with remaining areas.

Representation Summary:

Although set in a rural pocket of sweeping countryside, there is a danger that the village will be surrounded by new built estates if not protected. The views looking out from the village all help enhance the feeling of being in a valued landscape and are vital in adding to the character of the village. We consider that as much weight as possible should have be given to the preservation of the setting of the village, hence the preservation of the views.

This policy is complimentary to other policies which seek to retain the essential features of the village. Whilst recognising that this plan only relates to the parish of Radford Semele I would draw particular attention to ensuring that the views from Crown Hill, which is one of the outstanding viewpoints in the Warwick District, are protected.

The precious few views left in the village must be protected at all costs! I do not advocate the building of any more houses in the village, rather to develop the rural vista that is left. As central government state, we should be enhancing and protecting our countryside and give due consideration to the short and longer term impact of any development. We are already starting to see the negative impact on our countryside and landscape by the intrusion of the HS2 development. Whatever happened to the protection of our green belt?

Strongly agree. Radford Semele's landscape should be protected as it connects people with nature, promotes a feeling of community and instils well being.
As stated earlier the recently published Red List for British Mammals should be taken into account; the red list details the mammals on the edge of extinction in the UK.

Respondent: Mr Oliver Aries

Representation Summary:

The Countryside around Radford is rich in wildlife, flora and forna. It is also, in parts, open and rolling landscapes.
Views are important to the community for its identity and provide a sense of openess and wellbeing. Views are enjoyed by everyone when going on walks and everyday life.
The content of the views need protection and therefore I very much support this policy.

Full text:

Part of the pleasure of being in a village community is its connection with the surrounding countryside. These connections provide room to move. However, it is important that the countryside is maintained and its wildlife is protected for everyone to enjoy. At present the surround countryside has a wealth of flora nad forna and wildlife species. The countryside provides important views for everyone to enjoy whilst walking or driving through. These views are very important for the villages identity. I cannot stress how important it is for these views to be respected and maintained. The list given in this policy was carefully chosen from a larger list and represents the fews loved by the community.

Respondent: Severn Trent Water

Representation Summary:

Severn Trent is supportive of this policy, particularly sections b), c) and d). The retention of watercourses, ditches and land drainage are essential to facilitate sustainable drainage of surface water for new development and for future generations. It is recommended that watercourses are retained within open space to enable access for maintenance, preventing encroachment and improving biodiversity. In addition, we would encourage that in this section a policy relating to Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuDS) is included. It is vital that surface water flows from new developments are managed sustainably and directed back into natural water systems to help manage surface water flows but also to have wider environmental benefits on water quality, biodiversity and amenity.

Representation ID: 72002

Received: 18/08/2020

Respondent: A C Lloyd Homes

Agent: Delta Planning

Representation Summary:

Policy RS6 should be omitted.
Policy RS6 (f) seeks to protect the essential character and quality of a number of views within the Parish. We object to the proposed Community Valued View RS6/5 (view from footpath south of new Spring Lane development).

It is considered that this policy is not supported by a robust evidence base. Appendix 3 of the Neighbourhood Plan includes a short description of each view and why they are considered to be important. The reasoning for RS6/5 is as follows: “View of tranquil, open countryside towards the brook. with the Copse closer to the viewpoint. In Spring and Summer, birds of prey often bring up their young, giving spectacular displays to the many who use the footpath (W121)”.

It is noted that Policy RS6 is not supported by Warwick District Council in the Consultation Statement (April 2020) published alongside the Neighbourhood Plan.
