Representation Summary:

That this development be stopped completely.
HS2 does not make this a viable proposition. Houses in the village cannot be sold at the present so how are they going to be able to sell 90 new houses. If they do manage to sell then are we going to get even more home owners trapped in properties they cannot sell on when they want to move.

The revised local plan has not represented the views of local residents or recognised the issues currently faced by the village of Burton Green.

It is particularly unsound at a time when HS2 is such a cloud over the heads of the villagers.

Why is Burton Green being submitted to so much development in a very small concentrated area which is serviced by an infrastructure of narrow country lanes.

With the HS2 development so closely located it is hard to see how the developers think that these properties are going to be attractive to buyers.

HS2 will not be running for many years so the build stage will coincide with the housing build stage and will not be a very attractive proposition to buyers and mortgage lenders alike.

The ease that a property could be then resold is unlikely as villagers are currently finding when trying to sell properties. These owners will not even have any rights of compensation as they bought with the knowledge of HS2.

Why do we want to see yet more householders trapped in properties they cannot sell. This is a moral outrage to think that this is fair.

Burton Green has evolved through small scale developments over many years. This high density estate is completely out of character with Burton Green. How is the small school going to manage. There are no bus service to speak of or shops.

Proportionally the % of additional housing is well out of kilter with the size of the village and the percentage of additional housing being considered elsewhere.

The additional 90 homes, plus 32 new Park Homes on 'Le Van' site, combined with the relocation of the village hall due to HS2, will create unsafe road conditions on Red Lane for pedestrians and other road users.
