The peri-urban parks appear to be :
1. Semi urbanisation of rural areas
2. A substitute for the provision of public open space in urban areas and new housing developments.
3. A way of allowing developers to avoid providing adequate provision for open space on their developments.
The concept is also unrealistic. If the landowners don't want cycle tracks, new woodland etc. on their land, nothing will happen.
The Kenilworth Peri-urban park will be inaccessible to most Kenilworth residents unless they use their cars.
Public open spaces are most needed in the areas where people live.
