Site 492 Land at The Greens, South of Alcester Road, SuA, and site 827 South of Alcester Road, SuA: Development of this field will permanently eradicate a local green space and green corridor. It will permanently change the local aspect impacting residents, the nearby churches and hospice along with the wellbeing of all those associated people. It will deprive the equestrian users of a valuable local amenity. It will to the inevitable pressure for development at some stage on the adjacent field which will complete the eradication of what was once a large green area in the town.

There should be a much more positive provision of green space for the purposes listed. Local plans are limited by land available; in areas where there is no 'spare' land, it is not possible to provide adequate Local Green Space, so intervention is needed to provide such spaces, as happened with our local Neighbourhood Plan.

Local Green Space and open spaces should be supported. SG18, could become an integral part of developing this with its links directly to local green space and open spaces of Welcombe Hills and Clopton Park in the adjacent field.

The Councils duty is to allocate Local Green Spaces for protection within their local plans and be ambitiously proactive in regards to this important designation. It should not delegate this task to others (who will probably have other agendas) by relying on a few adopted Neighbourhood Plans.

I agree with this policy because safeguarding local green spaces is essential for communities and the environment. These spaces provide vital habitats for wildlife, support biodiversity, and offer recreational areas that improve well-being. Protecting them ensures future generations can enjoy nature while preventing unnecessary development that harms the landscape. Green spaces also help combat climate change by improving air quality and supporting carbon capture. Prioritizing their preservation is a crucial step toward sustainable and responsible land use.

I support this policy because protecting local green spaces is vital for both communities and the environment. These areas provide essential habitats for wildlife, promote biodiversity, and offer recreational benefits that enhance well-being. Preserving them ensures future generations can enjoy nature while preventing harmful, unnecessary development. Green spaces also play a key role in tackling climate change by improving air quality and aiding carbon capture. Prioritizing their protection is a crucial step toward sustainable and responsible land management.
