-We do not believe all the sites proposed to be allocated in the 12 Primary and Secondary Service Villages will be available or deliverable. Nor will they provide enough houses. The process of identifying such villages has failed to examine whether other settlements might benefit from modest development.

The proximity of Kingswood and Rowington means that release of our site at -Rowington Green would take the place of at least one of the Kingswood sites to fulfil the number of dwellings required.
-62 dwellings have been designated in Kingswood leaving a balance of around 85, sites for which still need to be found. Otherwise our site could contribute additional housing to the total provision being sought by in rural areas.
-The Lyons Farm site could meet the local aspirations and dwellings compatible with the character and appearance of the area and will ideally meet the documented local need.

Respondent: Mr David Pickering

The Council recognise (Para 2.16) that the strategy they propose to adopt in terms of housing in specific rural villages ignores the housing needs of other rural areas and the importance of their often dispersed local services and facilities which may be then at risk.

Our particular focus is land next to Lyons Farm in Rowington Green. A limited amount of residential development here would both offer housing for young families, single people and the elderly and encourage retention of services and also enable some land next to the village hall to be released for community use.
