Preferred Options Consultation - Land at Stratford Road, Warwick

Respondent: Janet Baldry

Representation Summary:

The A429 road from Junction 15 is a well used road for both locals and more importantly visitors to our town (who generate considerable revenue for the town as a whole). Businesses create a good approach.
Money has been spent by investors to develop at Tournament Fields which has been landscaped to a high standard, giving both locals and visitors a good impression.
A Gypsy/Traveller site will do nothing to enhance the entrance to Warwick, in fact, within the last 12 months, travellers have parked up within that area and the rubbish and mess that they created and left when they departed was a disgrace. Sites elsewhere tend not to be well maintained

I write with reference to the proposed Gypsy and Traveller site adjacent to the Stratford Road, Warwick.

I run a small B&B further along this road, at the beginning of West Street...I pride myself in endeavouring to make my property smart..keeping it well maintained and spending money on hanging baskets/flowers to give passers-by a good first impression of my business and the town itself. I strongly believe that the A429 road from Junction 15 is a well used road for both locals and more importantly visitors to our town (who generate considerable revenue for the town as a whole!)...

Money has also been spent by investors to develop businesses at Tournament Fields and the area has been landscaped to a very high standard. This once again gives both locals and visitors a very good impression as they travel along the A429 into Warwick.

I, therefore, find it very hard to believe that when others are spending money in investing in the county to improve it...the council wish to introduce a Gypsy/Traveller site which will do nothing to enhance the entrance to Warwick whatsoever, in fact, within the last 12 months, travellers have parked up within that area...and the rubbish and mess that they created and left when they departed was a disgrace. Any Gypsy/Traveller sites I have ever seen are not well maintained and they don't appear to take pride in how they present themselves.
