Preferred Options Consultation - Land at Stratford Road, Warwick

Representation ID: 67367

Received: 03/09/2014

Respondent: Paula Fletcher

Representation Summary:

While l appreciate that the travelling community must be catered to and land must be found for a permanent site, placing it next to the sewage works on the main artery into Warwick used by many visitors and locals does not give our town a good image. It should be especially noted that tourists coming into Warwick by coach and those on the upper decks of buses will have a good view of the camp. Do we want to promote Warwick in this way?
I do not know where the other sites are located but l would imagine they would not have as much impact on quality of life for residents and tourists alike as this site

I write to register my protest to the above proposal. While l appreciate that the travelling community is yet another minority that must be catered to and land must be found for a permanent site, placing the site next to the sewage works on the main artery into Warwick used by many visitors and locals alike does not give our town a good image. It should be especially noted that tourists coming into Warwick by coach and those on the upper decks of buses will in all likelihood be given an exceptionally good view of the camp. Do we really want to promote Warwick in this way?

It is also a regrettably well known fact that Warwick already experiences higher levels of petty crime on the days when the market comes to town. Do we really want those who live on the Stratford Road and West Street to be exposed to yet more petty thievery and door to door selling by encouraging this site on our doorstep?

I do not know where the other sites are located but l would imagine they would not have as much impact on quality of life for residents and tourists alike as this site.
