WDC fair in respecting needs of the settled community by ensuring their voices can be heard in the consultation process, However, concerned that travelling community have not been heard.
Subject to prejudice and allocated sites which would not be tolerated by any other section of society. Constant struggle to secure bare necessities exacerbated by inability of many adults to read and write. Reluctance by local officials to visit sites and isolation of communities from the support of local residents.
May be sound and reasonable objections to proposed sites, but difficult to be 'fair and effective' without knowledge of the GT way of life and the difficulties the community faces.
Would like opportuntity to visit a site and meet the representatives of the community and to meet the settled community to hear their experience and impact on their lives of GT.
