I am a former resident of Baginton now living but a mile away and visit daily having family and friends in the village.

The proposed plans for the gypsy site have recently come to my attention. Initially I presumed them to be a sad joke however, the reality of the proposal is far from a laughing matter.

The obvious objections come to mind,

1. The introduction of a large site in the centre of a small village and the resulting tensions between residents and travellers.

2. The strain on facilities - schools, parking, transport routes and local amenities.

3. The perceived problems encountered near other such sites, that political correctness prevents from open discussion.

The reality is, everything about this site is wrong. What concerns me is why Baginton was chosen. Common sense dictates that the site is unsuitable, or is it that the site is adjacent to the planned Coventry / Warwickshire Gateway, Baginton is sacrificed and this keeps all the unwanted development in the one area, away from central Warwickshire and on Coventry's doorstep.

I was under the impression that councillors were elected to act for and on behalf of their constituents and as guardians of their designated constituencies, and that council employees were employed on behalf of those constituents. It appears that against the wishes of all the residents of the area, councillors and the planning department are intent or railroading this proposal through.

PLEASE DO NOT GO AHEAD WITH THIS CATASTROPHIC PLAN!

This village was mentioned in the Doomsday book. Please do not go down in history as the instigators of the demise of this beautiful historic village.
