Gypsy and Traveller Site Options

Respondent: Mr Robert Sutton

Representation Summary:

Access to the sites will be gained directly onto the A46 dual carriageway via the petrol station forecourts, adding to the increasing danger where traffic slowing down to enter the area, thus causing severe avoiding action by following vehicles who are unable to manoeuvre due to the dense volume of traffic.
Noise is a big problem, which is incessant with the high volume of lorries using the route throughout the night, caravan dwellers living immediately adjacent to the area would find it intolerable.
That planners should consider installing caravan dwellers within the confines of these dangerous and unpleasant environs is inconceivable.

There are extremely dangerous and environmental issues associated with these two sites which must be given full investigative processes before any consideration is given to the authorizing of these areas as realistically capable occupation by gypsy/Travelers. The A46 is now one of the busiest dual carriageways in the Midlands with an exceptionally high volume of traffic over a 24 hour period bringing, as it does, both dangerous and environmental issues to the area that must be recorded.
