Green wedges are a non-statutory designation relating to landscape protection unlike the Green Belt. Green wedges effectively provide no protection as they are not permanent and are subject to review each time a development plan is revised.
Changing the designation of the land around Old Milverton from Green Belt to Green Wedge is effectively the first step to permitting the land to be used for future development.
The building of the North Leamington Relief Road would then be the catalyst to encourage the infilling of the "Green Wedge" by incorporating Old Milverton Village into the urban sprawl.
