The best way to improve biodiversity in South Warwickshire is to stop building housing, thus leaving more land for nature. With a finite land supply, this is the only sustainable policy.

It is better to take sensible precautions now than have to take panic, knee jerk reactions in the future when things do get serious. If we have had more gradual, sensible precautions when climate change had become apparent in the past, then we would not need to be rushing sustainable policies in now.

Gardens attached to new developments should be included in the thinking. They are often effectively sealed from each other by solid panel fencing and gravel boards. This does not allow for hedgehog highways etc. Hedging would be more sensitive to wildlife needs and encourage greater biodiversity. Or at least gaps under fencing. I am tempted to suggest a restriction on pet numbers but that would probably be unacceptable!

Biodiversity is extremely important. Prioritise this over more housing.

Let’s have some! The council’s response to the climate emergency is insufficient and at least a decade too late.

Option C9.1a is needed anyway, but really you should not be building in green areas that are known to have clear biodiversity
