I believe that the wording of this policy is mis-leading suggesting that the warwickshire countryside will be protected when it actual fact it is saying the opposite. Where the character and bio-diversity of an area will be negatively affected and even harmed, this area should not be built upon. No amount of work by a developer will mitigate this.

Areas where you can’t mitigate the effect of development on the landscape should be protected from development at all costs, how can you mitigate the effect of development in picturesque open green areas. These should not be developed

Development should not be allowed in the area, and the caveats should be removed (such as that ‘unless there would be an over-riding benefit, for instance to meet an evidenced local housing need’). The Local Plan should be allocating suitable land for housing need.

This approach as it stands will result in tremendous harm to the landscape. South Warwickshire is generally rural and thought of as countryside in the large part, There have already been too many harmful developments and we should not worsen this. The countryside is an escape for city dwellers of South Birmingham/ Solihull/ Coventry and should be kept that way. It's generally a beautiful area dotted with smaller towns which fit well with the nature of the county. Loss of green fields, country walks, cycling routes, peaceful canal journeys is far from desirable.

Regions where development cannot be mitigated without harming the landscape should be safeguarded from such activities. These areas are crucial for preserving natural beauty, ecological balance, and biodiversity. By protecting them, we ensure the long-term health of the environment and maintain the unique characteristics that define these landscapes. This approach is essential for sustainable development, as it balances economic growth with environmental conservation. Implementing strict regulations and conservation measures can help prevent irreversible damage and promote responsible land use. Ultimately, protecting these areas is a commitment to future generations, ensuring they can enjoy and benefit from the natural world.
