We agree with all these policy directions but they tend to be the last things that developers do and are either not done well or not at all so implementation needs to be monitored and the planning authority must ensure compliance. Planning approval should include penalties if developers do not do what they say they are going to do.

I agree with this policy because protecting trees, hedges, and woodlands is essential for the environment. These natural features provide habitats for wildlife, improve air quality, and help combat climate change. Preserving and maintaining them ensures biodiversity thrives while also enhancing the landscape for future generations. Strong policies that safeguard trees and woodlands contribute to a healthier, more sustainable environment. Prioritizing their protection is a positive step toward responsible land management and conservation.

No - the plan should set out a tree canopy target, as other Councils have done, to be more ambitious at a wider scale. The policy on trees and hedgerows (DPD 42) needs to value trees and hedgerows for
their carbon sequestration and storage, as well as their ecological and amenity value. It
shouldn't be possible for a whole wood to be cut down to build houses, as happened at
Mappleborough Green.

This plan is ecologically poorer than comparative plans. It should set out a tree canopy target, as other Councils have done, to be more ambitious at a wider scale. This needs to be addressed.

Agree, but as per previous comments - this approach seems to be 'expendable' when push comes to shove and developers do not stick to requirements (and are allowed to get away with it)
