Broadly yes. But "green spaces" are not necessarily supportive of wildlife. Make this stronger.

The authorities don't manage existing trees properly (or at all in some cases) - creating real dangers to the public - so best not to create more problems for the future

Supporting the existing biodiversity, safeguarding and supporting areas of higher biodiversity already in existence is crucial. I agree with the sentiment but am concerned that the initiatives here do not go far enough. Especially as developers have been reported to not be doing enough for biodiversity.

There is no updated green and blue infrastructure evidence bas and doesn't include opportunities for wider corridors. Developers have not proved reliable in implementing biodiversity considerations in the past.

Preserving and enhancing existing biodiversity is vital. Research indicates that developers often fail to implement the ecological and biodiversity improvements they initially promise. This oversight can lead to significant losses in natural habitats and species diversity. The Lost Nature Report, referenced at https://wildjustice.org.uk/general/lost-nature-report/, highlights these issues and emphasises the need for stronger regulations and accountability in development projects. By safeguarding areas of high biodiversity, we can ensure a sustainable future for our planet’s ecosystems. It is crucial to address these discrepancies to prevent further degradation of our natural environment and to uphold the commitments made to biodiversity conservation.

This needs to go further with integrated systems, preventing utilities taking priority over environmental benefits such as trees, habitats and landscape elements.
The Environmental Act and BNG requirements prioritise existing habitats, these should be safeguarded and protected. Development sites should be identified based on the existing environmental/habitats within the area, brownfield sites with little vegetation shold be the development priority.

It is unclear how this will deliver wider connecting corridors which are more substantial than the proposed small scale on-site improvements. The councils should update their Green/Blue Infrastructure evidence base, in line with the NPPF and in time to influence chosen housing sites in the Local Plan.
