I agree with these sites, providing adequate infrastructure is included with the proposals - this includes; cycle, pedestrian, rail, bus connections as the priority with other vehicles secondary to this.

As with all the employment policies, the far South of South Warwickshire is neglected.

It is obvious and sensible to focus new house building adjacent to Major Investment Sites that are most likely to provide the shortest commutes to work opportunities, reducing traffic, journey times and associated negative environmental impacts.

Major Investment Sites are so designated due to the opportunities and growth that are present within them. As a former employee of the University of Warwick, for example, I am all too aware of the expansion plans and desires of those within the University and the good that such expansion and investment would do.

Where new builds are located next to Major Investment Sites, they are the most likely to provide the shortest commutes to work opportunities, reducing traffic, journey times and associated negative environmental impacts. The development of major investment sites at Long Marston Airfield (MIS.2) and Long Marston Rail Innovation Centre (MIS.3) should be made dependent on the improvement of highway infrastructure in the local area and to and around Stratford.
Improvements will be needed to Station Road to provide access to the Rail Innovation Centre and new housing development.
Employment land and a local centre and town centre uses at the Long Marston Airfield site as previously approved is supported.

On page 79 MIS.8/MIS.9 there appears to be a lack of synergy with the plan identified in MIS8 and MIS 9 on page 81 to develop the sites of the campus and the airfield to be mutually beneficial with the idea of further industrial development of storage on the airfield site. It also is not fully compatible with Draft Policy Direction 16- Airfields. Wellesbourne Airfield second bullet point. Airfield related development.
We agree that linking MIS8 and MIS9 would have additional benefits in the creation of high value employment opportunities at the airfield site.

The identification of MIS9 and linkages to MIS8 is entirely in line with the best approach to medium-long term economic development and the protection of Wellesbourne Airfield to support this initiative is evidence of the highly competent strategic planning needed and proposed for South Warwickshire.
MIS7 is similarly supported and more information is attached.
Whilst fully protecting its aviation activities and infrastructure, Wellesbourne Airfield has the potential to accommodate further research and related facilities that would support the University of Warwick’s Wellesbourne Campus and businesses in the area.

I would support Wellesbourne Airfield being developed for research and technology. What it doesn't need is more logistics warehousing, there are vast numbers of lorries arriving and departing already

The release of 100ha from JLR appears plausible for reallocation recognising the development designation in place saving the need to look for other virgin land in the area. However,J12 appears to have attracted greater volumes than expected with traffic from local roads towards the junction. Poor transport integration remains challenging, the strategy should be to align freight over rail and utilisation of the DIRFT Hub and exploit land opportunities closer to the hub and Coventry Airport.

MIS.7 - UW main campus. While the site should be understood and in general developed with the SPD, further development in the south of the site erodes the Green Belt between Coventry and Kenilworth and should not be explored. The University of Warwick plans to create an EcoPark in this region, which would provide vital green infrastructure and safeguard part of the Green Belt, and a link road as stated would cut that EcoPark in two.

The approach should be highly disciplined to avoid the loss of productive agricultural land. Maximum use should be taken of brown field sites and redevelopment of existing sites.
