Representation ID: 102968

Received: 07/03/2025

Respondent: Chesterton and Kingston Parish Meeting

Representation Summary:

Those proposals that look at development close to Coventry and Kenilworth where there has been less development relative to area and population than Warwick and Leamington are supported.

There must be adequate infrastructure. Easily accessible public transport access should be a priority. Road capacities in Warwick and Leamington are at capacity. The M40 corridor focus is not supported for development.
Proposals should be not be based on green belt / areas of agriculture. We do not support development that changes the character of immediate surrounding areas.
We support developments within walking distance of railway stations. eg Kenilworth, Warwick Parkway, Hatton

Representation Summary:

This consultation is not geared to the general public. It is not user friendly and is difficult for the layman to engage. Attendance at one of the public sessions proved to be unsatisfactory as it was not hosted well...difficult to discuss how the sites were arrived at and clear that the preferred sites are rather more arbitrary. How can land along side railway lines with no railway stations and only road infrastructure I.E Preferred site F1 be deemed to meet sustainability objectives?

Representation Summary:

This area along Harbury Lane overlaps potential new settlement site X2. It extends south east of the Fosseway along Harbury Lane to include land that runs up to the 17th century Grade 1 ancient monument Chesterton Windmill. This area is completely dependent on road transport. There is flooding along Harbury Lane on a regular basis. The landscape from the Fosseway up to the windmill ( Site ID 612) is very steep and is an area with many and significant archaeological features.

Potential Settlement Question X2

Representation ID: 102990

Received: 07/03/2025

Respondent: Chesterton and Kingston Parish Meeting

Representation Summary:

Harbury Lane and the Fosseway are single carriageway roads running along the northern and eastern boundaries of this site. Harbury Lane is prone to flooding with water run off from the land immediately to the south of Harbury Lane. This flood risk would be worsened with new settlement development.

There are significant archaeological remains in the area on the land to the south of Harbury Lane and either side of the Fosse Way. It is a sensitive area.

There is currently Solar Farm construction on 234 acres on part of X2 (Chesterton Fields Farm) south east quadrant of X2.
