Helping Shape the District

Respondent: Burton Green Residents' Association

Representation Summary:

Public transport links between Burton Green and Kenilworth should not be reduced

Full text:

The main concerns of residents are that the green belt should be retained, particularly between Coventry and kenilworth; only limited infill housing should be allowed to meet the needs of first time buyers and people wishing to downsize; public transport links to Kenilworth should not be reduced and a sensible level of funding for small rural schools should be maintained.

HS2 has blighted housing values and the construction process will affect village life, a site for a new village hall may have to be found as a consequence. Some houses in the Burton Green locality may have to be demolished and there should be consideration of a means to re-house them in the immediate locality.

Respondent: Binswood Allotment Society

Representation Summary:

Binswood Allotment Society would like their site to be designated as allotments in the local plan as it is a resource beneficial to its members health and wellbeing.

Full text:

BWS would like WDC to include our site as Allotments on the Local Plan for the reasons set out in my letter dated 08.07.08 below:

Binswood Allotment Society is a local amenity. The society has a membership of 117 and a waiting list of 25. The membership is drawn from all walks of society and ethnice backgrounds. Our membership includes all age groups, single people, married couples with young children, the retired and elderly. Most of our members live in the North Leamington area.

Members work on their plots to produce vegetables and soft fruit and their harvest is usually tastier and fresher than similar imported produce flown in from the Mediterranean or South America. Members benefit from the exercise taken in the fresh air away from the noise and bustle of everyday life and the fellowship that the Society provides.

It is for the reasons briefly outlined above the Binswood Allotment Society wishes to remain an amenity for the people the living in the North Leamington area.
