I support this. One aspect is the availability of an extensive network of cycle paths and footpaths to cut down on traffic pollution in all developments. Present developments tend to be biased towards car use.

This emerging policy feels like work in early progress. Research needs to be done on other authorities that have introduced similar policies. It will be important to avoid overlap with DPD 38 (BNG) so as not to increase the burden on developers through duplication. A clear definition of how ENG goes above and beyond BNG is important as is how ENG will be measured.

carbon sequestration is not the answer to increased carbon emissions. Improving public transport links with new stations to reach more local areas and actually reducing emissions is needed.

Corridors are essential for protecting and enhancing biodiversity and combatting the increasing fragmentation of green space. It is unclear how this policy will deliver wider connecting corridors which are more substantial than the proposed small scale on-site improvements. The councils should update their Green/Blue Infrastructure evidence base, in line with the NPPF and in time to influence chosen housing sites in the Local Plan.

The idea of offsetting is not going to help overall biodiversity. It can never replace supporting existing valued wildlife areas. Such offsetting previously promised has rarely if ever been properly implemented. I have no confidence that any offsetting promised would be effective.

Carbon sequestration is not the answer to carbon emission reduction. We need better transport/ links. Rail routes and reliable trains.

Carbon sequestration alone is not the answer to the problem of increased carbon emissions. In addition to this, we need to improve public transport links by constructing new stations that reach more local areas. This step, combined with actual efforts to reduce emissions, is what is truly needed to address the issue effectively.

Carbon sequestration alone cannot address rising carbon emissions. To effectively combat this issue, it is crucial to enhance public transport by constructing new stations that extend to more local communities. This approach will encourage more people to use public transport, thereby directly reducing emissions. By focusing on improving accessibility and efficiency in public transportation systems, we can make significant strides in lowering carbon footprints. This strategy not only supports environmental sustainability but also promotes urban development and connectivity, making it a vital component of a comprehensive plan to tackle climate change.

Carbon sequestration alone won’t suffice to curb rising carbon emissions. To effectively address this pressing issue, we must prioritise enhancing public transport by constructing new stations that extend to more local communities. This approach will incentivise a larger number of individuals to opt for public transport, directly reducing emissions. By concentrating on improving accessibility and efficiency within public transportation systems, we can make substantial progress in lowering carbon footprints. This strategy not only supports environmental sustainability but also fosters urban development and connectivity, making it an indispensable component of a comprehensive plan to combat climate change.
