The aim of new locations is to unlock economic growth by improving labour mobility and job opportunities, addressing housing constraints, and accelerating housing delivery. New homes will cater to diverse communities, including affordable and high-quality social housing.
Strong communities will be supported by essential infrastructure and services such as education, healthcare and green spaces. The initiative also focuses on creating environmentally resilient places with sustainable design and low-carbon infrastructure to support the net-zero agenda.
New settlements, each with at least 10,000 homes, will be developed, either as standalone sites or by expanding existing towns, work starting by end of Parliament.
