I moved to Hockley Heath in 1992 and am writing to object to the proposed plan to increase the number of homes from 700 up to 5000. Hockley Heath is a lovely village surrounded by Green Belt countryside and this would be totally destroyed if the plan goes ahead.
My main reasons for opposing this development are as follows:
I was under the impression that Green Belt land was only to be built on in exceptional circumstances. It is widely understood that access to the countryside and nature has a huge impact on people's mental health and the construction of so many new homes would also adversely affect wildlife.
The development would also completely destroy the character of the village and which does not have the infrastructure to support such a large number of extra residents.
There would be a significant increase in traffic on the A3400 which already gets very congested.
I am very much hoping that the character of our lovely village of Hockley Heath is not totally destroyed by this proposed local plan.
