The proposed 54,500 new homes risk increasing carbon emissions, overwhelming infrastructure, and encroaching on greenbelt land, undermining climate resilience. There is insufficient clarity on how net-zero targets will be realistically achieved alongside major construction. Additionally, the plan lacks evidence of thorough community consultation, raising concerns about whether local views on sustainability have been properly considered. Without addressing these contradictions, the plan risks failing to deliver meaningful climate action.
