It has already been discussed at our parish council meeting that the drive for selfbuild homes obliterates the requirement to develop social/affordable housing. Developers do not wish to build lowcost homes. House building targets appear to have been exaggerated and current developments do not offer sufficient homes for an elderly population. Nor do current developments pay any attention to local building styles or the need to maintain and develop wildlife corridors. Recent research identifies a correlation between wellbeing and the amount of biodiversity a surburban site is able to provide. There is no detailed strategic policy regarding wider wildlife corridors.
