Climate resilience should be at the core of all strategic objectives. Responding to the climate emergency is in two parts. Reducing CO2 is key. Enhancing biodiversity and protecting our natural assets must be priority. But climate is changing already. Extreme wind, temperature and rain events are with us now. Ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents, and protecting and managing our environment must be woven into all decision-making.
Efficient use of land. Often interpreted as a reason to increase dwelling density, this is not a sustainable principle. It directly undermines other strategic objectives. It must be avoided.
