These proposals amount to planning box ticking. Unfortunately there is a long and continuing history of the council taking action which is contrary to the wishes and wellbeing of residents. This has occurred across a range of areas but is most apparent in housing development. It is clear that the council has permitted residential development which is contrary to planning policy and the interests of residents. Its primary motivation has been to collect Community Interest Levy payments (CIL) from housebuilders. This has resulted in damage to the environment, quality of life and serious inconvenience to residents, particularly during highway works.
