I agree with Draft Policy Direction 18, but with a focus on ensuring sustainability and local community benefits. Supporting rural employment and diversification is vital for thriving rural communities, but development should be carefully scaled to the rural setting and sensitive to the character of the landscape. Policies must prioritise sustainable transport options and minimise environmental impact. Agricultural diversification schemes should be encouraged but with clear guidelines to ensure they meet local needs and contribute to sustainable rural economies. Any new development should avoid over-reliance on car travel and be well-integrated into existing rural infrastructure.
