Protection needs to be robust. Also the Councils should not be relying on the few adopted Neighbourhood Plans. It is their duty to allocate Local Green Spaces for protection within their local plans and be proactive in regards to this important designation. It is essential that high density housing developments which these days have pocket handkerchief gardens have access to green open space, both managed and wild, for wellbeing and mental health. People need calm, quiet space to relax in if they are cooped up like battery hens.
