WDC needs to use its food producing land as effectively as possible to provide for our present and future needs as imports from overseas with carbon miles become more expensive with the changing climate and with 3rd world food demand increasing. Self sufficiency and building on food producing land do not go together.

7b Gardens both in the parks, historical locations and private, are a source of great tourist attraction to the district we must maintain and encourage our residents to get involved and develop even more attractions for the tourists that involve gardening - the project for the Pump Room Gardens is a good example. A living, working allotment in one of the parks would be a good idea as an incentive for people to try.
