Shipston has grown massively in the last five to ten years. We do not have the infrastructure, jobs or roadways to handle a large number of additional houses. In addition the suggested land floods regularly. It is also in close proximity to a water treatment plant which could provide unpleasant smells. The planning team just denied permission for an additional supermarket and our “hospital” no longer has any beds so is unfit for a large number of residents. There is poor public transport to local towns.

Shipston’s infrastructure is already stretched beyond its limit. Schools, doctors, roads etc are struggling under severe load, and many other services (hospital with beds and injuries department, fire service and police) have been stripped away in recent years. Additionally, the location of the SG17 houses are largely on notorious floodplains. The extra resulting traffic would also add to very dangerous country roads (the B4035 having had multiple fatalities at one proposed site). Shipston has already seen enormous growth in recent years, and the qualities and character of it as a rural town are at risk with these further planning proposals.

No - I strongly oppose, there is insufficient infrastructure, some is flood plain ground and could cause flooding to existing properties that have not flooded previously.
Shipston in a valley with further build liable to cause problems to existing properties (look at the frequent flooding/sewage issues for areas like Berry/Queens avenue due to the inefficient drainage in the Campden road estates).
A large part of the proposed land is in Barcheston/Honington parish - bridge would not cope with the volume of traffic.
Local villages (willington/Honington) would become rat runs - the road infrastructure is not sufficient - accidents could occur.

Increased flood risk - Fell Mill Lane area regularly floods. Additional traffic (cars), bridge wont cope. Farmland replaced with tarmac/concrete add to flood risk, damage natural environment. Inadequate infrastructure - no hospital, no large supermarket, over subscribed junior senior schools, no Sixth Form provision, no access to rail travel, infrequent buses with limited destinations. No employment opportunities. Proposal not proportionate to the existing town. Shipston town centre cannot cope, insufficient parking. Rural roads. I do not agree with SG17 due to the flooding in Shipston especially near Mitford Bridge. This area is presently acting as a flood plain. The town has already had sewage problems since the new housing estates have been built so this would make more problems. We need a sixth form college. Bus services are abysmal. More employment, a hospital with beds and schools are needed now not more houses. This is not a user friendly method for comments especially for older people. The public consultation at Shipston leisure centre today was chaotic and an insult to the town
