Representation Summary:

To reiterate, these seemingly environmental solutions are often proposed by people who haven`t researched the issue properly but need to be able to tick the box.

The purported aims are good but how they could be achieved is not seriously thought out. The P&R idea is only paying lip-service to environmental concerns in the same way as some of the cycle tracks in Leamington are- the one along Lillington Road to N Leamington School is just the pavement with a few posts and a few lines on the pavement. It is better than having to ride on the road, except that residents don`t seem to accept that it is a cycle track, along which cyclists will be moving faster than a pedestrian. Motorists come hurtling out of their blind drives as there are no marks to tell them to give way. Who would be in the wrong if a cyclist was killed?

We support the key principles of the background papers for the local plan. However, the transport options in the draft local plan are inconsistent with these policies (for example building the North Leamington relief road).
