Yes, let us treat gypsies as People and stop attacking them all the time. Most comments in the press are based on prejudice.

There should be no sites built for gypsies or travellers at the cost of the rate payer, why can't they help build their own sites, in a self build scheme. They put nothing into the system so why are they given housing free.

It is imperative that representativies from the gypsy an travelling communities are included in any discussions relating to sites. Their responsibilities as welll a their rights must be made clear to them.

Please include the Gypsy and Traveller communities in planning for their needs. In the past, presenting them with sites with no reference to their needs has resulted in a waste of money. Gypsies and Travellers are quite able to take part in consultation. Use their own community groups top do this.

Only support if the people you are talking about are prepared to complete tax returns and declare income. If not, then unfortunately they should not have the same rights.

I'm sorry but I have a reasonable job and still cannot afford a convertable Audi A4 and a twin axle caravan. If they can afford luxuries that the normal tax payers cannot then I don't see why it is the tax payers responsibility to provide then with free accommodation and utilities. If they want it let them pay for it. I've never seen a poor Gypsy in my life.

They may have rights but don't let them forget their responsibilities.

If there is spare cash that the Council wants to give away then can you pay for my on-suite bathroom please.

Travellers need an actual site- as required by law- yet WDC has not built one.

This in turn causes conflict, when they then park up in unsuitable locations without facilities.

I suggest land next to Jnc 15 of the M40 be investigated or perhaps a suitable pitch could be provided adjacent to the Leek Wotton Police Headquarters?
