The Council must double its efforts to release empty dwellings to the market.

Whilst agreeing that Kenilworth has some vibrant shopping, there is an over representation of national retail chains and some trades. For example there are far too many opticians and currently NO delicatessens. Far too many fast food outlets/cafes and NO greengrocers.
Sainsburys has been sitting on an empty store (ex Budgens) for years.
There is also poor transport connections to the castle, with no direct buses from Coventry, Leamington or Stratford to encourage visitors.

The only problem I can see with this approach, in relation to Kenilworth and Waitrose is that now we have a town centre with 3 and a half supermarkets within a square half mile. Whilst you are trying to attract the huge names to the town, spare a thought for the locals, who because of this can no longer afford to pay the rent! and are basically forced out of business. Do we really need SAINSBURYS, WAITROSE AND SOMERFIELD within a stones throw of each other

Why not build them as a whole and create their own community with school, shops, pub, surgery, like Hatton and Woodloes.

Regenerate town centres. No further development of The Shires which is not carbon friendly. Too many empty shops in Warwick/Leamington

Encouraging independant retailers into the centres to provide variety. Kenilworth has a high number of supermarkets, opticians and hairdressers and could do with other types of shops such as clothes shops.

But there should be a limit on the number of charity shops, particularly when they sell new items that compete with independent shops.

Shires retail park/ parking charges, expensive buses make Leamington very quiet. Lots of empty shops and offices.
People are going to other places to shop because Leamington is unfriendly, expensive and derelict.

The strategic objective for town centres says that suitable land can be developed for retail, leisure, and offices uses to be meet future needs. There is no objection to these objections but it is merely queried by housing does not feature in them
Why cannot town centre apartments form part of this mixed-use strategy? Indeed apartments near to offices, leisure and shopping is a sustainable objective as it reduces the need to travel by car, or indeed to own a car.

If you wish to see vibrant shopping in the centre of Warwick, you need to limit expansion of Tesco and similar developments which draw `away customers.
Warwick should be seen as having a culinary role with upmarket restaurants as one of it's major draws for tourists and as a regional centre within WDC. Therefore noisy pubs and night clubs should be limited or banned.

Until details of the infrastructure to back up the Council's options (sorry DEVELOPERS' options) then a valid and reasonable response is not possible.
